Elena is a multimedia artist whose work ranges from digital illustration to large scale oil and charcoal drawings. She graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2015 with a BFA in Fine Arts. It was in Baltimore that her work began to focus on social justice. During her final year at MICA, the city was embroiled in protests against police violence and racial injustice after the death of Freddie Gray. Elena’s drawings are a direct response to the white supremacy that has always existed in our country but has come into the limelight in the recent political climate. As a white person herself, Elena brings attention to the privileges that are afforded to her and all white people through the culture of oppression in the United states.
